Compilations, Audits &
Write-Ups
Financial statements are often a vital and
necessary tool for the evaluation of financial performance and
condition. Whether utilized internally for management and
forecasting purposes, or required by outside agencies such as banks,
creditors or investors, financial statements are often a key
measurement of a company's financial position.
In the accounting industry, there are three levels
of financial statements services:
- Compilations - The
assembly of your company's financial information into a
financial statement format. This is the most basic service
available and requires no audit or review of procedures or
controls.
- Reviews - A
higher level of service, a reviewed financial statement
requires some inquiry of company personnel and the
application of analytical procedures to provide limited
assurance that the resultant financial statements conform
with the generally accepted accounting principles.
- Audits - The
highest level of service available for a financial
statement. An audit includes the examination and testing of
a company's accounting system to allow expression of an
opinion on the financial statements of the company. A
financial statements audit can often be a requirement for
companies with government agency certifications and/or
engaged in contracts with federal or state agencies.
